Let HABITS be Thy MEDICINE. Hi, I am Dr Chan Tat Hon, a medical doctor from Singapore, I hope my videos would inspire you to take action to unlock the power of Habits for Health.
‘The Habits Doctor’ is my social media handle and nickname because of my work in activating people to unlock the power of habits to combat diabetes, cardiovascular disease & other lifestyle habits related chronic conditions. My medical practice is focused on coaching people jumpstart necessary habits changes for health, I also frequently conduct training programmes on the power of habits for health.
Many also know me as ‘What's Cooking Doc?’ because of my blog of the same name and my 5-year stint up till 2019 as a full-time chef in a restaurant that I started as a living classroom for people to explore new foods to improve their eating habits.

Well if you put it that way, yeah nothing is changed in the outside like that. Chia seeds are not chemical stuff that would react to all of those items that you put on the table. lol. This video makes me feel like if you put books on the table what do you think happened to you? NOTHING!

I’m interested in the wild black native rice. 11lbs cost 54$ and has me wondering what it tastes like? Over all so far I enjoy my middle eastern basmati long grain rice the best over the rest!
I have never seen red or brown Basmati rice in the market
My A1C went from 8.4 to 6.5 in 90 days. Dropped 30.lbs in the process. No alcohol, junk food, processed sugar or fried foods. eat real food. steak, chicken, fish, salads, vegetables etc. Go to the Gym 3x a week, lifting weights etc.. No pharmaceuticals whatsoever!!!!!!!! You can do this!!!!!!!!!
I desperately need help I’m trying to improve the pain and swelling in my body I have uncontrolled rheumatoid arthritis I’ve been on all the cytotoxic medication and they make me ill so at the moment I’m only taking pain control please help me
I'll have to test if after draining it I can put the rice back in the pot to finish steaming properly and develop the crispy rice layer on the bottom which is a MUST in Dominican rice.

Dr. Chan talks of chia seeds as if they have zero benefits. Im 69 years old and my doctor gave me the "Watch your carbs talk" Chia seeds are not magic but when used properly they do have their place. By making chia pudding with artificial sweetener and 100% cacao powder im cutting my breakfast carbs by 60+% and I'm neither hungry or miserable as if i were eating food that tastes like styrofoam. Im not cheating on my diet but it tastes like i am! There's a right waty to use chia seeds. My breakfast used to have 35+ grams of carbs. Now my breakfast is 0nly 10-13 grams of carbs in and I'm not suffering and miserable wanting to cheat all the time

We grew up eating it with biscuits for lunch. Mama would give us a piece of ham with it. I normally just ate the biscuit with molasses though. Lol

To everyone here: There is one more step down from "black strap" molasses. Crude Black Molasses. You can get it cheap from stock shops, (animal feed stores.) this is thicker yet, and it has awesome qualities! -Thin it with water, put it in a squeeze bottle. The price is unbeatable! I get it by the 5 gallon bucket, and pass it out to others in jars, and I still come out ahead financially. I put in hot/cold coffee, milk, or water. If you want it sweeter, sweeten it more with honey, flavor it with vanilla... I just started using it again, and WOW!

This is a great, honest, thoughtful discussion about what chia seeds are not! Currently there’s so much information that has encouraged the consumption of chia seeds. While they can be beneficial, there’s a lot more to consider if a lifestyle change is necessary to treat chronic health problems. If people think consuming chia seeds take preference over other foods, they may be jeopardizing their health. Thank you, doctor!

The reason I wont diet, is because it is so unnatural, but I like to know the guidelines and rules, and I am a big fan of trying new things, whenever I am eating too much of one thing, problems arise, variety is the spice of life. Recently have started skipping meals, nothing is better than eating a delicious meal when you are actually hungry.
This reminded me of a verse from Buddha. "Think not lightly of good, saying, “It will not come to me.” Drop by drop is the water pot filled. Likewise, the wise man, gathering it little by little, fills himself with good." - The Buddha
Me and my partner had the same diet, she got diabetes and I don't but I am more skilled at lowering stress, due to a lifetime of chronic stress, which no longer ails me.
Mindset is so important, within us there is the elements needed for healing, we just have to put in the correct effort. Mind is so important patients with multiple personalities, one personality can have diabetes and another does not.

Is there really anyone who thinks they could add chai seeds to unhealthy foods and it magically turns into healthy food lol 😂 I’ve recently started taking chai seeds in my protein shake each morning :) it’s part of my healthy eating plan :)

I have recently decided to cut out coffee from my diet, because it is too bitter for it to be drank plain and I want to reduce sugar consumption. I have always added a little honey to my green/white tea, but recently starting buying better quality tea, more sophisticated tea rituals and have been slowly reducing added honey to enjoy the subtle/delicate flavors.
UA-cam needs more content like this, this was very positive and encouraging for those suffering from Diabetes. My partner is suffering from Diabetes and taking medication and having side effects. I look forward to learning more from your channel, she was told medication is needed and will continue with medication until she is told by Dr. she doesn't need it anymore. So far in just a few months she lost weight, and I can see in her face she is healthier. We have also been much happier since adapting better habits, and better attitude towards life has significantly reduced stress.

So you count the water absorbed during rinsing as part of the water needed for the ratio? I guess that's the most consistent way of doing it since you eliminate a variable. Nice video! 😊

Once consumed the carbs in bread (and it is ALWAYS almost ALL carbs) break down into sugars WITHIN SECONDS and enter the blood stream. There are no exceptions, BREAD is one of the single worst things you eat. It also utterly destroys the lining of your stomach.
